Becoming a Personal Care Aide with GCTI
The GCTI Personal Care Aide Program is a 40 hours, introductory program. A state approved Curriculum: Our program is designed to put you directly into a career as a Personal Care Aide, fully preparing you for your rewarding new career.
The classes are Monday to Thursday, from 9am to 3pm for 7 days.
Classroom Studies
Our class sizes are small: to make sure that everyone has access to the attentions of our highly skilled, experienced, teaching staff. We offer a multimedia experience including text book, and video learning to provide our students with a high quality, entertaining and rewarding learning environment.
Skills Labs
Skills Labs provide our students with hands on training, to recognize and to prevent abuse :to monitor vital signs and learn necessary documentation skills needed to work confidently in any situation. We use a variety of live models and teaching aides to provide a well rounded experience.
A Personal Care Aide cares for patients in the home. Their work enables the elderly, disabled, and ill patients to live in their own homes rather than in a health care facility. With their help, patients can spend less time in the hospital, which not only reduces health care expenses, but also allows a patient to enjoy the comforts of their own home.
The primary role of the PCA is to perform assistive duties, such as range-of-motion exercises, personal hygiene, grooming, transfers, and proper positioning of the patient. Their work sometimes includes light housekeeping chores, such as shopping, cooking and light cleaning.
