What Our Program Offers

The GCTI Medication Aide training program will prepare qualified individuals to assist with self-administration of medication in assisted living facilities (ALF). This consists of 48 hours within the classroom and 20 hours of facility training. The Medication Aide class equips students with the basic techniques and safety procedures for medication administration and the regulations concerning
prescription medications.

Employment of nursing assistants is projected to grow 37% from 2016 to 2026, faster than the national average which is between 5% and 9%.


Our class sizes are small: to make sure that everyone has access to the attentions of our highly skilled, experienced, teaching staff. We offer a multimedia experience including text book, and video learning to provide our students with a high quality, entertaining and rewarding learning environment.

Medication Aides assist residents with medications and students will learn the classifications and side effects of drugs used in various care settings. This course is intended to prepare students to safely perform the standard duties of a Medication Aide in a licensed adult care and assisted living facilities under the supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/ vocational nurse.
